Community Guidelines
Last updated November 5, 2026
LinkUp is for real people having real conversations. Grow honestly, don't automate or sell anything that belongs to the platform, and keep everything safe for work. These rules apply everywhere: servers, DMs, group chats, profiles, names, avatars and voice.
1. Authentic growth: no member inflation
Member counts, online counts and activity must reflect real people who chose to be there. Anything that artificially inflates a server, or rewards people for joining instead of taking part, isn't allowed.
Not allowed
- Join-for-join (J4J), sub-for-sub and member exchanges: agreeing to join each other's servers, posting "join mine and I'll join yours", or running servers and channels built for swapping members.
- Buying, selling or renting members, including "member packs", "real members" services, online-member boosts and any paid way of adding people.
- Alt and bot accounts used to pad a server, or idling accounts kept in voice or "online" to look busy.
- Forced joins: requiring people to join other servers, follow accounts, or invite a number of people before they can see channels, get a role, enter a giveaway or claim a reward.
- Invite rewards: offering money, gift cards, crypto, items, roles with real-world value or giveaway entries for invites.
- "Join to unlock" or locking access behind joining partner servers.
- Mass-joining, server hopping and raids: joining many servers to farm attention, or coordinating a crowd to flood a server.
- Gaming Discover: keyword stuffing, misleading descriptions or categories, or fake activity to rank higher.
- Mass DMs of invite links, or adding people to group DMs to advertise.
- "J4J? Drop your link 👇"
- "Invite 5 people to unlock #giveaways"
- "500 members for $10"
- Keeping 30 alts online in your server
- Sharing your invite in a server that has a self-promo channel
- Inviting your friends because they'd enjoy it
- Fair partnerships where both servers simply link each other
- Listing your server honestly in Discover
2. No botting or automation abuse
- No self-bots: don't run scripts, macros or modified clients that control a normal user account, such as auto-replies, auto-joins, auto-reactions or message schedulers.
- No automated account creation, account farms, or using many accounts to get around limits, polls, votes or bans.
- No spam bots, including bots that DM users, flood channels, or post links or invites repeatedly.
- No scraping of messages, profiles, member lists or invites, and no building databases of users.
- No farming: don't automate activity to earn badges or levels, or to appear active.
- No getting around safety systems: rate limits, slowmode, AutoMod, timeouts and bans exist for a reason.
- Voice and video must be real people. Don't play bots or recordings to keep a channel occupied.
3. No selling platform things
Accounts, servers and anything tied to LinkUp aren't for sale.
- No selling, buying, trading or renting accounts, including "aged" accounts, accounts with badges, and rare or short usernames.
- No selling servers or server ownership, and no selling admin roles, moderator roles or "staff positions".
- No selling members, as covered in rule 1.
- No selling boosts or boost services. Boosts are personal and come only from your own account. You can't resell them, offer them as payment, trade them for roles or members, or run "boost for hire" services.
- No selling cosmetics, profile items, Super or invites. You can't resell or gift-for-money LinkUp Super or boosts, and you can't trade them for roles, members or services.
- No gambling, paid lotteries or "pay to enter" giveaways.
- No scams or money schemes: fake shops, investment or crypto "signals", doubling schemes, MLMs or chargeback fraud.
- No paid services that break the rules, such as raids for hire, mass reporting, harassment or account cracking.
Selling your own legitimate creative work, like art commissions, in servers that allow it is fine. Keep it honest and off-platform for payment.
4. Zero NSFW, for everyone
LinkUp is safe for work everywhere. There are no 18+ areas, no NSFW channels and no exceptions. Saying you're an adult, adding an "18+" role, or keeping it in DMs doesn't make it allowed.
- No sexual or pornographic content: images, video, text, audio, links, stickers or emoji.
- No sexual roleplay (ERP), "lewd" requests, or sexual chat in DMs or group chats.
- No sexualized avatars, banners, display names, usernames, statuses, bios, server icons or channel names.
- No links or invites to sexual websites or servers, including "NSFW server" ads.
- No gore, shock content or real-world violence posted to disturb people.
- Minors: any sexual content involving minors, sexualizing minors, or adults pursuing minors (grooming) means an immediate permanent ban and a report to law enforcement.
5. Safety and respect
- No harassment: don't target people with insults, threats, unwanted contact or dogpiling. If someone asks you to stop, stop.
- No hate: don't attack people based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, disability or serious illness.
- No violence or threats, and no glorifying or encouraging attacks.
- No doxxing: never share someone's address, phone number, school, workplace, photos or ID without their consent.
- Self-harm: don't encourage or glorify it. If someone is struggling, be kind and point them to local crisis services.
- No dangerous or illegal activity, including drug sales, weapons trading or instructions for causing harm.
6. Honesty and security
- No impersonation of other users, moderators, LinkUp staff, creators or brands.
- No phishing or account theft: no fake login pages, "free item" links, token grabbers or malware. Staff never ask for your password or login code. Anyone who does is a scammer.
- No ban evasion: don't make new accounts or use alts to get back into a server or platform you were removed from.
- No account sharing: your account is for you alone.
- No exploiting bugs. Report them instead. Abusing a bug to gain access, crash the service or harm others leads to removal.
- No misleading people at scale: no fake giveaways, fake staff announcements, or coordinated false reports.
7. Advertising and spam
- Only advertise where a server explicitly allows it, such as a #self-promo channel.
- No unsolicited DMs with ads, invites or links.
- No repeated messages, wall-of-text floods, mass mentions, or sending the same thing to many channels.
- No chain messages ("send this to 10 friends or…").
8. Server owners and moderators
- You're responsible for your server. Post clear rules, for example in a #rules announcement channel, and enforce these guidelines.
- Use the tools: roles and permissions, AutoMod (profanity, spam, invites, links, caps, mention limits), slowmode, timeouts and the audit log.
- Don't build servers around anything these guidelines ban, such as J4J hubs, member shops, account markets or NSFW content.
- Use moderation powers fairly, and never to harass members.
- Your server rules can be stricter than these guidelines, never looser.
9. Enforcement
We consider how serious something is, the intent behind it and your history. Typical steps:
- Content removal and a warning for a first, minor issue.
- Timeout: you can read but can't chat, react or join voice for a while.
- Removal from a server by its moderators, or a kick or ban.
- Temporary account suspension for repeated or serious violations.
- Permanent removal for severe harm, ban evasion, account selling, member markets or any zero-tolerance violation. Servers built around a violation are removed entirely.
Zero-tolerance violations, such as any sexual content involving minors, credible threats or account theft, skip straight to permanent removal and may be reported to authorities.
10. Reporting and appeals
Right-click a message or person and choose Report. Reports go to the moderators of the servers you share, and the person you report isn't told who reported them. You can also block anyone, which hides their messages and stops them from contacting you. If you think an action against your account was a mistake, contact us at the email address listed by the operator of this site with your username and what happened.
